Restructured electric power systems: analysis of electricity markets with equilibrium models
Zhang, Xiao-Ping
The book reviews the latest developments in analyzing and assessing electricity market behavior and market power, i.e. the electricity market equilibrium models, and discuss the application of such models in practical analysis of electricity markets. These topics of this book reflect the recent research and development of the electricity market equilibrium models, and foresee the futureapplications of such models and computational techniques in electricity market analysis: the problems of electricity market behavior and market power are reviewed; mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints (MPEC) and equilibrium problems with equilibrium constraints (EPEC) are presented; electricity market equilibrium models for analyzing market behavior and market power are outlined; challenges and recent advances in solving the electricity market equilibrium problems are discussed; different electricity market equilibrium modelsare presented; the state of the art techniques for computing the electricity market equilibrium problems are discussed; application of the electricity market equilibrium models in CO2 allowance allocation for generation investment and dispatch, forward and spot markets, short term power system security and analysis of reactive power impact is presented. In addition, the future research directions on the computing the electricity market equilibrium problems are also discussed.
