This volume explains the biophysics and theory behind many MRI techniques andgives example of how these techniques are applied in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The first section of the book presents the basics of MRI physics, background on hardware, and sources of error. The next three sections cover image processing and characterizing tissue properties using endogenous and exogenouscontrast mechanisms. The book concludes with an overview of emerging areas inthe MR characterization of cancer, including therapy planning, molecular and cellular imaging, pH imaging, and hyperpolarized MRI.
