The proposed book is an academic textbook covering most of the modern topics in digital communication systems. It will bring necessary theoretical knowledge in this currently intensively developing field. Classical coding theory (block and convolutional codes, Galois fields, hard- and soft-decision decoding) is supplemented by description of newer developments such as turbo-codes and Low Density Parity Check codes. It will include a large introductory chapter providing information theory presented on a rather moderate level followed by a chapter devoted to error correction coding. Going one layer down, the next chapter presents baseband signalling. The spectral and synchronization properties are considered, in particular signal shaping and line coding are the topics covered in this chapter. The following chapters cover; digital modulations applied in modern communication systems; receiver designs; classical modulations such as ASK, FSK, PSK, DPSK, QAM; trellis-coded modulations (TCM); continuous-phase modulations (CPM); multicarrier modulations (OFDM); baseband equivalent channels; receiver structures and algorithms designed for digital transmission over dispersive channels; spread spectrum systems; synchronization issues; multiple access methods.
