Plasma Medical Science is a new academic field that combines plasma science and medical science. Recently, non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma has been applied for a wide variety of medical fields such as wound healing, blood coagulation, and cancer therapy. However, the mechanisms of biological effects by plasma treatments were not fully understood to develop rational treatments in medical practices. In this book, we describe the progress in Plasma Medical Science over past five years, illustrating what readers must share the scientific principles of Plasma Medicine. Provides a dedicated reference for this emerging topicDiscusses the state of art of developments in plasma technologyIntroduces topics of plasma biophysics and biochemistry required to understand the application of the technology for plasma medicineBrings together diverse experience in this field in one reference textProvides a roadmap for future developments in the area INDICE: 1. Introduction 2. Physical and chemical basis of non-thermal plasma 3. Plasma biological science in various species 4. Regulation of cell membrane transport by plasma 5. Reactive oxygen species in Plasma Medical Science (PAM and cancer therapy) 6. Application of plasma to humans (Blood coagulation and regenerative medicine) 7. Safety and standardization toward clinical applications 8. Future outlooks in plasma medical science
