Eosinophilic and autoimmune gastrointestinal disease: new insights and new entities : an issue of gastroenterology clinics

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is a clinicopathologic disease characterized byupper intestinal symptoms and the finding of more than 15 or 20 eosinophils in the esophageal epithelium; these findings are unresponsive to proton pump inhibitor treatment. EE is a common disease that affects both children and adults.
