Nanotechnology is widely used in drug delivery due to its ability to reduce plasma fluctuation of drugs, high solubility, and efficiency, the relatively low cost of nanoscale products, and enhancement of patients comfort. Nanoparticles can conjugate with various drugs by different methods to deliver them to the target site. Nanoparticle surfaces are designed with ligands to target specific cells and co-polymers to get protection from immune cells. The nanoparticles-conjugated drug can eventually recognize the site and join to the target and enter to the cell by receptor mediated endocytosis, resulting in over success of the treatment strategies. Gold, silver and iron are used as nanoparticles because of their shape depending optical, magnetic, electrical properties and size. Physical, chemical and green approaches uses to production of metal nanoparticles have led them more efficient carriers. This book explores gold, silver and iron-based drug delivery systems for controlled and targeted delivery of potential drugs and genes for enhanced clinical efficacy.Metal Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery and Diagnostic Applications addresses aspects across the lifecycle of metal nanoparticles, from synthesis and characterization to applications in drug delivery and targeting. It is an important reference source for those working in the areas of biomaterials, nanomedicine and pharmaceutical sciences. Illustrates the progression of nanoparticle therapeutics from basic research to applicationsExplores new opportunities and ideas for developing and improving technologies in nanomedicine and nanobiologyDiscusses the toxicity of different types of metal nanoparticles and how to ensure their safe use INDICE: 1.
