This book is devoted to the analysis of the fundamentals of the degradation of polymeric materials, as well as to the use of thermal analysis for the characterisation of such processes. After a description of the main types and mechanisms of polymer degradation, then Thermogravimetry, Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Dynamic-Mechanical-Thermal Analysis are studied. Theoretical fundamentals of these techniques are described, and their several possible applications to the study of the degradation processes of polymeric materials are explained in detail
