Sleep Deprivation and Cognition

The negative impacts of sleep loss on performance are substantial, and can result in accidents, costly errors, and even loss of life. The effects of sleep deprivation are known to be selective, and unlike traditional lesion studies, allow for assessment before, during, and after selective disruptions to cognitive pathways, which allows studies of sleep loss and cognition to help move the wider field of cognitive neuroscience forward. The volume brings together scientists working in the area of sleep deprivation with scientists involved in research and theory in cognitive neuroscienceThe volume fosters theory-driven research on sleep loss and cognition and, at the same time, advances general understanding of cognitive neuroscienceThe science of sleep deprivation and cognition covered in this volume provides a foundation for the design of countermeasures to prevent human errors and accidents caused by sleep loss INDICE: 1.
