Olson-Buchanan, Julie B.
Boswell, Wendy R.
The effects of workplace mistreatment on individual and organizational well-being have been highlighted in the popular press and clearly documented in the empirical literature. This book aims to integrate findings from the empirical literature with the practice literature to identify practical, evidence-based recommendations to prevent and fully address systemic workplace mistreatment. It discusses the recursive effects of mistreatment in organizations and how individual and organizational well-being can be enhanced by implementing policies and procedures that are carefully designed to address the full impact of mistreatment in organizations. In addition, this book will focus specifically on evidence-based recommendations for how organizations can create a civil workforce, thereby preventing further workplace mistreatment. After reading the book, a reader should be able to:1) Identify best practices for resolving mistreatment occurrences in organizations.2) Identify the means by which mistreatment occurrences can lead to recursive mistreatment in organizations.3) Identify policies, procedures, and best practices for addressing the full impact of mistreatment in organizations.4) Identify best practices for creating a civil workforce and preventing recursive mistreatment.
