Noble Metal-Metal Oxide Hybrid Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications sets out concepts and emerging applications of hybrid nanoparticless in biomedicine, antibacterial, energy storage, and electronics. The hybridization of noble metals (Gold, Silver, Palladium and Platinum) with metal-oxide nanoparticles exhibits superior features, as compared to individual nanoparticles. In some cases, metal oxides act as semiconductors, such as nano zinc oxide, or titanium oxide nanoparticles, where their hybridization with silver nanoparticles, enhanced significantly their photocatalytic efficiency. Noble Metal-Metal Oxide Hybrid Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications highlights how such nanomaterials are used for practical applications. When metal oxidess were magnetic nanoparticles, such as iron oxide nanoparticles, their hybridization with gold nanoparticles (magneto-plasmonic hybrid nanoparticles) enhance the hyperthermia treatment of cancers by a combination of both magnetic field and laser excitations. For antibacterial application, the hybridization of silver nanoparticles and iron oxide nanoparticles could accelerate the ionization of silver nanoparticles. In the field of energy storage, the presence of hybrid nanomaterials may enhance significantly the time, efficiency and capacity of the charge-discharge process. Examines the properties of metal-metal oxide hybrid nanoparticles that make them so adaptableExplores the mechanisms by which nanoparticles interact with each other, showing how these can be exploited for practical applicationsShows how metal oxide hybrid nanomaterials are used in a range of industry sectors, including energy, environment and healthcare INDICE: Part 1: Fundamentals 1.
