
Exploring how understandings of masculinity were constructed by British FirstWorld war servicemen through examination of their personal narratives, including letters home from the front and wartime diaries. This book presents a nuanced investigation of masculine identity in Britain during and after the First World War. JESSICA MEYER is a Research Fellow in the History of Medicine at the University of Leeds. She holds degrees from Yale University and the University of Cambridge. She is currently researching the experiences of British non-combatant medical service personnel during the First World War. She has also published on popular literature and war disability.
