Born in 1905, Ernst C. G. Stueckelberg was professor of theoretical physics at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne in the years 1930-1970. He was one of the most eminent Swiss physicists of the 20th century. His breakthroughs, from his causal S-matrix to the renormalization group, have influenced the development of contemporary theoretical physics. Our project intends to present a selection of Stueckelberg’s scientific papers, introduced and commented by the best experts - physicists and historians - in the field. The are presently no studies covering in a systematic way the contribution of Stueckelberg which are themselves scattered in various journals not easily accessible nowadays. Ourproject aims at providing the community of historians and scientists a reference book which could serve any further study of Stueckelberg's works and theirimpact on contemporary research.
