The technological progress has lead on the one hand to a strongly increased traffic on our streets but also to improved systems for driving simulators. Theincreased availability and quality of these simulators makes them interestingfor the training of drivers. At the same instance, they can be used for documentation, data acquisition, data analysis, evaluation, and modelling. This book explains the basics of education and training using simulators and their ability to improve the safety on our street. It presents the foundations of simulator techniques and discusses the design of training programs. They were realized, implemented and tested in two professional institutions for truck driver training and are actually in use. Program kernels are specific simulator training contents, and measures and procedures for the evaluation of training success.
