Fractal models in exploration geophysics: application to reservoir geophysics
Dimri, V.P.
Srivastava, R.P.
Vedanti, Nimisha
The first part of this book presents an overview of the seismic data processing sequence that includes basic tools and recent advancements like processing of multicomponent seismic data and seismic migration at an angle. There has been a tremendous improvement in migration techniques. Multicomponent seismics has become an important core activity of exploration seismology. The processingof multicomponent seismic data fills a separate chapter. The part II of the book is organized to describe the basics of fractal theory and its applicaiton in exploration seismology. The third part focuses on the mapping of complex seismic reservoir that includes mapping of rock properties and irregular geometryof the reservoir. The fundamentals of latest methods like Amplitude Variationwith Offset (AVO), Inversion and time lapse (4D) seismics is also provided. Discusses the basic principles of time-lapse seismic reservoir monitoring technology-a rapidly advancing topic with a growing market-along with their practical application.Provides the fundamentals for those interested in reservoir geophysics and reservoir simulation study. Demonstrates an example of reservoir simulation for enhanced oil recovery using CO2 injection.Very useful for researchers in propagating the idea of applying fractals in exploration and for practitioners in directly applying field data for geo-modeling.
