The globalized economy depends on local and context-specific factors. This edited volume addresses local-global nexuses via case studies of global interactions in developed and developing areas, and of particular firms' approaches tothese issues. The chapters build up a prospectus on how best to create globally capable localities. BRUNO DALLAGO is Professor of Economics, Head of the Faculty of Sociology and Director of the School on Local Development at the University of Trento. He was President of the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies, Visiting Professor at various Universities, including the University of California at Berkeley, and the Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo. He was consultant tovarious international organizations. His research interests include comparative economics, the transforming economies of Central and East Europe, SMEs and entrepreneurship. CHIARA GUGLIELMETTI is currently a Post-Doctoral research fellow at the School on Local Development of the University of Trento, and holdsa PhD in Law and Economics from the University of Bologna. Guglielmetti has been visiting scholar to various Universities and Erasmus Mundus Research Fellow at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Her research interests include comparative and development economics, the transition process in particular in Central and Eastern Europe, spatial inequality and entrepreneurship.
