Ashley is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has conducted and published a number of studies into the mental health of public sector employees, including national politicians, social workers, healthcare staff and university employees and published a number of research papers in peer-review journals. In 2007 Ashley published 'Surviving the Workplace b A guide to Emotional Well-being' with Professor Cary Cooper and he is the Editor of a European book on the 'The Psychology of Politicians' (Cambridge University Press). CARY COOPER is Distinguished Professor of Organizational Psychology and Health and Pro Vice Chancellor at Lancaster University, UK. He was Founding Editor of the 'Journal of Organizational Behavior', Editor of the journal 'Stressand Health,' President of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and Chair of the think tank The Sunningdale Institute in the UK's National School of Government. He has a number of Honorary Doctorates from universities and received an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians. Professor Cooper was honoured with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2001, and was elected as Chairof the Academy of Social Sciences in 2009.
