This contributed volume approaches the novel adoption of quantitative instruments by researchers working on the frontier of semiotics and other interpretative sciences. The aim is to explore new trends in research and evaluate how quantitative competence, that is both statistical analysis and mathematical modeling, are integrated within traditionally qualitative practices. The book shows how researchers perceive the complementary roles of interpretation and computation, and it identifies two main families of trends in contemporary quali-quantitative semiotic analysis: first, the implementation of structural instruments into operational procedures, and second, the role of biological embodiment of meaning. The target audience primarily comprises researchers in the field of quantitative linguistics, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.
