EU-funded ICT research on trust and security

Security and trust form an integral part of the European Union's (EU) Framework Programmes. EU research projects bring together participants from many fields such as industry, academia and the legal, social and economic sectors and, in the period from 1998 to 2006, progress has been made in the areas of cryptography and smart cards, followed by privacy, dependability and risk analysis. This publication, "EU-Funded ICT Research on Trust and Security", consists of six chapters detailing the work of some recent projects. Among the subjects covered are: new filtering approaches to phishing email, security of trusted repeater quantum key distribution networks, automated security policy enforcementin multi-tenant virtual data centers and exploiting cryptography for privacy-enhanced access control. Of interest to all those involved with issues of security and trust, this book contributes to the long term goal of converting EU know-how into economic advantage
