Logic synthesis for compositional microprogram control units
Barkalov, A.
Titarenko, L.
The control unit is one of the most important parts of any digital system. Asa rule, control units have an irregular structure, which makes the processingof their logic circuits design very sophisticated. One possible way to optimise such characteristics such as the size or performance of control units is toadapt their structures to the particular properties of interpreted control algorithms. In this book control algorithms are represented by the linear graph-schemes of algorithms (GSA), where the number of operator vertices is not lessthan 75% of the total number of all algorithm vertices. A special class of control units named as compositional microprogram control units (CMCU) is proposed as the best way for interpretation of linear control algorithms. Present design methods for and hardware amount optimization for compositional microprogram control units (CMCU) Useful for students, practicioners, and researchers inelectrical engineering and digital automata design No previous book considered such organization of control units Includes new models of control units, methods of their synthesis and a lot of examples INDICE: Methods of interpretation of control algorithms.- Synthesis of control units with field-programmable logic devices.- Synthesis of basic circuitsof compositional microprogram control Units.- Synthesis of compositional microprogram control units with code Sharing.- Synthesis of compositional microprogram control units with object Transformation.- Control memory optimization for CMCU with code sharing.- Synthesis of CMCU with coding of logical conditionsand collections of microoperations.- Synthesis of CMCU with modified system of microinstructions.
