The contested commons: conversations between economists and anthropologists
Bardhan, Pranab
Ray, Isha
This volume explores the possibilities and pitfalls of cross-disciplinary dialogue, primarily amongst economists and anthropologists, on foundational questions of methodology and epistemology. The theme of the local commons of local commons has been selected for this conversation, a topic that has been fertileground for both these disciplines. This volume will open up new discussions on, and opportunities for, cross-disciplinary research. There has been a surge of interest in interdisciplinary methods in recent years. The Contested Commons is mainly geared towards economists, anthropologists and sociologists; however, perhaps more so than many volumes on methodology, this book is as much about the philosophical foundations of the social sciences as it is about methods. Therefore it should also be of interest to students of the philosophy of knowledge
